Concept for expansion/flexibilisation of biogas plant and supplying the city with renewable energies
In Grafing near Munich, engineering firm Rückert developed a concept for expanding and flexibilising the biogas plant and supplying the town’s heating network with renewable energies (biogas and PV in combination with gas, heat and electricity storage)
The biogas plant of BioEnergie Grafing AG was planned by Ingenieurbüro Rückert in 2009 and since then has reliably supplied the CHP units of the town’s heating network with approx. 10 km of pipework. Our current feasibility study is looking at increasing the proportion of renewable energy in the heating network by expanding the existing CHP plant with the associated authorisation issues for the preparation of a development plan. Various expansion scenarios present realisable variants for CHP, heat and gas storage, dimensioned for the flexible use of biogas.
The second focus of the study is on concept development for the optimal combination with potentials for the integration of PV electricity via direct feed-in, electricity storage or hydrogen or methanisation technologies. The PV potential available on available areas was quantified and the feasibility of the technology options was assessed on the basis of a profitability analysis.
